Baby Triggy, a teenage YouTube sensation, will be visiting to raise awareness about the harmful effects of Cyber Bullying.

According to Tracy Smith, correspondent for CBS News Sunday Morning, as many as 160,000 students stay home on any given day because they're afraid of bullies, this is a huge problem for American kids. It's estimated that since 1983, there've been more than 150 documented cases of young people committing suicide after being bullied. The Obama administration is aware of this national crisis and it is time to put an end to the bullying.

Baby Triggy, who featured, produced and co-wrote My Jeans music video has received over 14 million views in less than 8 months, is no stranger to Cyber Bullying. As a young person who has received media attention during his blossoming career, Baby Triggy has learned that not all fans can be friendly. Baby Triggy has found himself the victim of Cyber Bullying on a few occasions and has already assisted other victims who have been Cyber Bullied. The message is clear and the time is now, we must put an end to the Bullying.

Baby Triggy along with his management company, True Story Management. LLC, will be touring from state to state, talking with elementary and middle school - aged children in an attempt to educate the students on the harmful effects of Cyber Bullying. The goal is encourage the students to take a stand against the bullies and also to let them know they have people they can trust to contact. The prelude to Baby Triggys visit to the schools is a fundraiser in which 20% of proceeds go towards the awareness of Cyber Bullying.

In addition to speaking with the students at the schools, Baby Triggy will perform one his hit songs during the DEATH to Cyber Bullying presentation. Baby Triggy has proven his ability to identify with young students and being that he is a peer, the children listen during his influential speech.

Being bullied over the Internet is hard for anyone to deal with. It's tormenting and leaves the victim feeling helpless, stated Curtis L. Anderson, Father and President of True Story Management. LLC. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can KILL. Kids today are committing suicide and hurting each other over Cyber Bullying, we need to do something.

Cyber Bullying is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner. As it has become more common in society, particularly among young people, legislation and awareness campaigns have arisen to combat it.

In most cases, these damaging statements are published on the Internet and may never be removed. These statements are detrimental to children and the Bullying often times will carry from the Internet to the school hallways. The DEATH to Cyber Bullying campaign will be speaking to the websites, to hold the sites more accountable for the content on their site and protecting the victims of Cyber Bullying. In most cases, the bully and the person bullied are both victims of Cyber Bullying.

Many States have penalties for the kids who are Cyber Bullying, which range from school/parent interventions to misdemeanors and felonies with detention, suspension, and expulsion in between. Some of these laws promote Internet safety education or curriculum that include Cyber Bullying.

About Baby Triggy

Curtis Michael Anderson (born May 19) better known as Baby Triggy, is an American hip-hop artist. Raised in South Side Jamaica Queens, NY, and started his career at the young age of ten. He was out with his father when they dropped by his dads friends music studio. Baby Triggy was blown away hearing the sounds of rap music. He asked his dad if he could give it a try and was told, its not as easy as it sounds. His fathers friend said, give him a shot and shortly after hearing the young man, they both were amazed.

Thousands of North Carolina Public School Students to Participate in "Jazz in America" Education Programs

With generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, a non-profit education organization, will introduce its Jazz in America: The National Jazz Curriculum to thousands of public school students in North Carolina during the week of October 9-13. Jazz in America (http://www.jazzinamerica.org) is the Institutes Internet-based jazz curriculum that is being made available to all 5th, 8th, and 11th grade public school students in the United States. Designed to be a regular part of each schools social studies or American history classes, Jazz in America is the first jazz curriculum to use state-of-the-art Internet technology that is offered free of charge on a national basis.

Throughout the week-long visit to North Carolina public schools, the Institute will present a series of jazz assembly programs, jazz band clinics, and vocal master classes. Each assembly program will feature a five-piece jazz combo led by internationally renowned saxophonist Bobby Watson, a presentation called What is Jazz? by Dr. J.B. Dyas, and a question-and-answer session with students. In addition, jazz drummer Thelonious Monk, Jr., Chairman of the Institutes Board of Trustees and son of the legendary jazz pianist and composer, will make remarks about jazz and its role as Americas greatest musical contribution to the world.

ABOUT THE CURRICULUM

The Jazz in America curriculum (http://www.jazzinamerica.org) presents an introduction to jazz as it evolved in America and spread throughout the world. It defines the characteristics of jazz, explains how to listen to the music, details the many styles of jazz, and highlights some of the musicians who have advanced the art form. The curriculum also focuses on the development of jazz in America by highlighting the major cities that influenced the music. Further, each lesson plan explores the social, economic, and political contexts within which jazz evolved. In addition to the lesson plans, the curriculum website includes a teachers manual, assessments, and a comprehensive Jazz Resource Library.

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS

The tour will be headlined by internationally renowned saxophonist and recording artist Bobby Watson (http://www.bobbywatson.com), who rose to prominence as a member of Art Blakeys Jazz Messengers, and will feature vocalist Lisa Henry, a winner of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition. The members of the rhythm section are Richard Johnson, piano; Derek Nievergelt, bass; and Otis Brown III, drums. Brown attended the Thelonious Monk Institute Jazz Colony in Aspen, Colorado in the summer of 1999. Nievergelt and Johnson are 1999 graduates of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance, a specialized graduate level college program that enables the worlds most gifted young musicians to study tuition-free with the greatest living jazz legends including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Clark Terry.

ABOUT THELONIOUS MONK

Thelonious Sphere Monk (1917-1982) is recognized as one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz. He was one of the architects of bebop and his impact as a composer and pianist has had a profound influence on every genre of music.

Monk was born on October 10, 1917, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. His parents, Barbara Batts and Thelonious Monk, later moved the family to New York City. Monk began piano lessons as a young child and by the age of 13 he had won the weekly amateur contest at the Apollo Theater so many times that he was barred from entering. At the age of 19, Monk joined the house band at Minton's Playhouse in Harlem, where along with Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and a handful of other players, he developed the style of jazz that came to be known as bebop. Monk's compositions, among them "Round Midnight," were the canvasses over which these legendary soloists expressed their musical ideas.

In 1947, Monk made his first recordings as a leader for Blue Note. These albums are some of the earliest documents of his unique compositional and improvisational style, both of which employed unusual repetition of phrases, an offbeat use of space, and joyfully dissonant sounds. That same year, he married his long-time love Nellie Smith and later had two children, Thelonious, Jr. and Barbara (1954-1984). In the decade that followed, Monk played on recordings with Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, and Sonny Rollins and recorded as a leader for Prestige Records and later for Riverside Records. Brilliant Corners and Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane were two of the albums from this period that brought Monk international attention as a pianist and composer.

In 1957, the Thelonious Monk Quartet, which included John Coltrane, began a regular gig at the Five Spot. The group's performances were hugely successful and received the highest critical praise. Over the next few years, Monk toured the United States and Europe and made some of his most influential recordings. In 1964, Thelonious Monk appeared on the cover of Time magazine, an honor that has been bestowed on only three other jazz musicians. By this time, Monk was a favorite at jazz festivals around the world, where he performed with his quartet, which included long-time associate Charlie Rouse. In the early '70s he discontinued touring and recording and appeared only on rare occasions at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and the Newport Jazz Festival.

Albuquerque Film Festival Kicks Off Summer with Screening of The Cool School

Though the Albuquerque Film Festival doesnt launch until later this Summer on August 18st 21st, festival director and Film 4 Change founder Rich Henrich is kicking-off the season on June 7th by presenting a remarkable film called The Cool School as a part of Savor Albuquerques event line-up.

Why The Cool School? Film 4 Change seeks to present films and the related arts that celebrate story and the art of being human. The story of The Cool School is a quintessential example of how creativity creates change and impacts economy through a dedication to the arts and a persistence of vision. The fact that we have a world-famous artist such as Larry Bell, who is featured in the film, willing to share his perspectives and stories about how this group of artists who created the scene in Los Angeles, is a huge opportunity for all of us who are engaged in the continued growth of the arts in Albuquerque, says Henrich. (Larry Bell splits time between L.A. and his studio in Taos).

About The Cool School: From 1957 to 1966, the Ferus Gallery was the catalyst of modern art in Los Angeles. Launching the careers of luminaries like Warhol, Ruscha and Lichtenstein, Ferus built an art scene from scratch and transformed the cultural climate of the West Coast.

The Cool School also includes commentary from two other famous transplanted New Mexican artists/actors who are also very close to the festival the late Dennis Hopper and Dean Stockwell. Hopper was the 2009 recipient of the AFF Lifetime Achievement Award. Last year, in 2010, Henrich did not give out the award due to Hoppers passing on May 29th and in turn, renamed it The Dennis Lee Hopper Award in his honor. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in film and the related arts and is awarded to an individual with a persistence of vision that reflects the independent spirit of Dennis Lee Hopper. This year, Henrich is proud to announce that Dean Stockwell, a close friend to the late Dennis Hopper and Larry Bell, has been selected as the 2011 award recipient.

Were delighted that Mr. Stockwell has agreed to accept this award and we are planning to screen a retrospective of his work including his personal favorite Married to the Mob, which he was nominated for an Academy Award and David Lynchs Blue Velvet which he stars opposite Dennis Hopper. This years festival promises to be as exciting and surprising as the last two years, says Henrich, with incredible films and people from New Mexico and around the globe.

Were also adding some genre films and are happy to screen The Dead Inside, a supernatural zombie musical that is sure to entertain. We will be screening films at The Guild, The Kimo, The Cell and the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino ABQ, a producing sponsor of the Albuquerque Film Festival and host hotel for our panels, workshops and parties. Todd Jefferson, Director of Marvel Games will return to AFF to host his popular panel on Games, Comics and Movies and share insights from ComiCon.

Workshops will cover technical aspects of filmmaking from camera to post-production as well as screenwriting, social media marketing and film financing. Panels will feature Hollywood insiders, agents, executives and a yet to be announced actors panel hosted by a very special guest.

Were also thrilled to announce that actor Michael Madsen of Reservoir Dogs fame will be attending the festival in August and we are extremely pleased to announce our opening night film, Amigo, written and directed by John Sayles and starring Chris Cooper. As part of our film series on art and creativity, we will also screen Philip Pearlstein: Naked Vision, a documentary about the controversial artist whos dedicated over 60 years of his life to painting nudes. Art and Culture critic Dave Hickey will lead a discussion following the film. The rest of our programming is still in the early stages with the next deadline for submissions of narrative features, documentaries, short films, music videos and multimedia projects set for June 5th and the final late deadline will be June 30th.
